Suggestions for searching in CamelCat

Some suggestions for finding information about your poem.

  • Check to make sure that the poem you are looking for information on isn't known by more than one title.  If it is search for both titles.
  • If you can't find information for a poem by the poem's title, you may need to find out the collection that the poem was published in.  When you find this information, look for information about the collection title.
  • Do a subject search on your author's name.  This will give you a list of books about your author.  These books should contain critical information as well as biographical information.
  • Remember to search your author's real name as well as any pseudonyms that they wrote under.
  • How do you do a subject search?
    • Go to the OneSearch and type in the subject you are looking for (e.g. Harlem Renaissnance), then hit return.
    • On the results screen, go next to the search bar and click on the advanced search link
    • On the Advanced Search screen you want to go to the drop down menu next to where it says Any field and select subject.
    • Under Material Type (to the right of the top search bar) from the drop down menu select Books/eBooks.
    • When you've selected all of these, click on the Search link.
  •

If you can't find any information, ask one of the librarians or your professor for suggestions on where to search.
