Historical Research: Finding Scholarly Resources

This guide highlights library resources that can be used to do research

Scholarly Journals

Scholarly Journals, also known and Academic Journals and Peer-Reviewed journals, have been through a peer-review process.  While you can browse through journals in our Periodical Reading Room, the easiest way to find relevant articles is to use the databases.

A database is a collection of article citations, and in some cases, the full-text of the articles themselves.  Differing databases collect citations from differing types of journals.  The trick to using databases effectively is to learn which databases contain the types of journals that you need.  At Campbell, there is a description of the contents of the database in our database lists.  You can also talk to any of the librarians and they will be happy to guide you to appropriate databases for your research.
