EDUC 450 (Elementary Science Methods): Internet Resources

NSTA is a member-driven organization, 60,000-strong. We publish books and journals for science teachers from kindergarten through college. Each year we hold four conferences on science education: three regional events in the fall and a national gathering in the spring. We provide ways for science teachers to connect with one another. We inform Congress and the public on vital questions affecting science literacy and a well-educated workforce.

The North Carolina Science Teachers Association (NCSTA) was formed in 1969 with the mission of promoting excellence in science teaching and learning in North Carolina. The organization continues to thrive with over 2000 members across the state.

National Geographic Education is responsible for creating educational programs and resources for schools, out-of-school settings, and the home.

Explore.org produces and hosts high-quality documentary films and photographs. Explore.org offers a lesson plan section for teachers. Not all lesson plans are appropriate for all grades and the lesson plans are labeled accordingly. All of the lesson plans are based upon videos hosted by Explore.

Arkive.org offers an extensive collection of videos and images of plants and animals. The videos and images are cataloged according to animal, plant, eco-region, and geo-political region. The games collection is a mix of quiz games and problem solving games.

This content is aligned to state standards, and the lesson plans include objectives, materials, procedures, readings and resources, vocabulary terms, discussion questions, and rubrics.

Using this resource you can write quizzes and find quizzes that your students can use. ThatQuiz.org is kind of like a wiki of quizzes because teachers can share with others the quizzes that they have written.
